Tasek Merimbun
Tasek Merimbun is the largest black water lake in Brunei Darussalam. These Park, which was declared an ASEAN National Heritage site in 1984, covers a total land area 7,800 hectares. The park has a rich flora and fauna and this unique biodiversity has attracted both local and foreign researchers. A 1.64km guided nature trail walk that offers several species of interesting botanicals and numerous Bornean orchids and giant Dipterocarps trees. The Boat cruise around the lake is a must to observe a variety of wildlife, including long – tailed macaque, Oriental Darter, Purple Heron, with the latest check-list recorded 50 species of freshwater fish, 68 species of mammals, 148 species of birds, 181 species of moth and butterflies, 54 species of dragon and damsel flies, and numerous other insects species. Other than that you will have the opportunity to learn some of the basic traditional dance and music and the best part is you will learn from the local people themselves.
